Why You Should Join the West Virginia Association of Elementary/Middle School Principals!

Dear School Leaders:

Please take a moment to consider joining the West Virginia Association of Elementary/Middle School Principals and the National Association of Elementary School Principals.  As you lead in the 2023-2024 school year, both associations are here to assist you.

This past year has been challenging and positive for public education, but we are dedicated to advocating for you and offering support for schools.  This year we will be lobbying at the legislature, speaking at WVDE events, holding our annual statewide conference, and working with other organizations to advocate for school principals and assistant principals.  This past year, members spoke at legislative hearings, educational forums and lobbied on behalf of the students and administrators throughout the state. As we enter the 2023-24 Legislative session it is critical our members make their voices known!

We must work together to make sure voices at the school level are heard.  We need new and dedicated members to make our needs known and your voices heard!  We are here to support you as you lead, as you work to build the capacity of your teachers and staff, to create a strong school community, and most importantly, to help your students achieve!  Below are a few of the benefits of NAESP and WVAEMSP membership:

As we pivot to the new school year, it is critical that we join together to advocate for our students, teachers, and schools. In the past, we have achieved many goals including pay raises, funding issues, the removal of A-F ratings, changes in assessment, the 180-school day calendar and fighting for you in the WV Legislature.   We strongly advocate for a full-time principal and counselor in every school.  Please contact us with any ideas that you have about how we can better meet your needs and advocate for school leaders and our students.
